Commenting after the Scottish Government statement on the Scotland Bill, Robert Brown, the Liberal Democrat Member of the Holyrood Committee set up to scrutinise the Bill, said:
"The Scottish Parliament asked for the Scotland Bill last year. This year it was supported at the ballot box in May by parties representing 80% of the Scottish electorate.
"Yet all we have heard from the First Minister of Scotland and his Ministers has been carping and nitpicking, denigration and sarcasm: an extraordinarily muted welcome.
"I had hoped for a more constructive statement from the SNP today.
"The Minister could not even bring herself to welcome the generous borrowing powers, which could build the Forth crossing, pay for more schools or support more investment in housing."
