Commenting ahead of the SNP publishing their White Paper on independence, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Tavish Scott MSP said:
"Polls show support for independence is at a new low, but still the SNP are determined to waste time and £12 million of taxpayers' money on their pet project.
"This weekend we have seen the nasty edge of nationalism just as the SNP tries to convince the country to back independence.
"Opposition politicians and journalists have been smeared by an SNP aide and some serious questions still remain.
"I'm writing to the Presiding Officer asking him to conduct a full investigation. We need to know if Mike Russell's aide was using parliamentary computers and time to conduct his odious campaign and whether this is part of an orchestrated online SNP campaign, coordinated from Bute House."
