Commenting after challenging Alex Salmond at First Minister's Questions to ditch his Independence Bill, Tavish Scott, leader of the Liberal Democrats in Scotland said:
Tavish Scott MSP"We need action on recession not rhetoric on secession.
"The First Minister should follow his new Salmond Rule of Government. It says you can abandon any promise, however solemn, as long as you have a long enough list of people to blame.
"This week, the First Minister got his priorities wrong. Instead of appointing a Minister for Independence, he should have appointed a Minister for Economic Recovery.
"He can drop the Independence Bill. And he can put my name on the list of people to blame."
