Liberal Democrat Energy spokesperson Liam McArthur MSP has demanded that the Scottish Government use the £100 million green energy fund to slash Scots' energy bills.
Commenting, Mr McArthur said:
"The First Minister and his Government have been wringing their hands over fuel poverty and blaming Westminster for failing to take action. Now we discover that his Government has been sitting on a £100 million green energy fund that could be used to cut fuel bills for Scots struggling with soaring energy prices.
"When Nicol Stephen asked the First Minister if the SNP would access money from the fossil fuel levy, Alex Salmond promised that the Government was 'in negotiations to have that money returned to Scotland'. But today, we learn that he has done nothing.
"Nationalist spin about the importance of action to tackle fuel poverty will be of little comfort to householders who have to choose between heating and eating this winter." quick cash payday loans my payday loan easy payday loans
